Everything You Need to Know Before Applying
1Who can apply to be a counsellor?
Mature, active members in good standing of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) who possess a heart for pastoral care, youth discipleship, and spiritual counseling.
2Must I be an ordained minister?
No. While ordained pastors and deaconesses are welcomed, non-ordained ministers, youth leaders, Sunday school teachers, and active workers who have completed leadership or workers training are eligible to apply.
3What prior training is required?
Applicants must have completed RCCG Workers-in-Training (or equivalent believers foundation leadership course). All accepted applicants will also undergo a brief YAYA CounselHub virtual orientation before taking shifts.
4How will my application be verified?
The YAYA Counselling Supervisory team verifies every applicant through pastoral recommendation (contacting your parish pastor or provincial youth coordinator) and credential validation.
5What time commitment is expected?
Shifts are flexible. Year-round counsellors can commit 2–4 hours weekly. During convention windows (such as IYC 2026), counsellors can sign up for specific virtual or on-site service shifts based on their availability.
6Can someone outside Nigeria participate?
Yes. YAYA CounselHub is a global platform serving diaspora young adults across Africa, the UK/Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. International RCCG workers are encouraged to join.
7What confidentiality agreement applies?
All counsellors must sign and strictly adhere to the Pastoral & Ministerial Code of Confidentiality. All counsellee disclosures remain strictly confidential and encrypted, with mandatory escalation protocols only in life-threatening or emergency safety situations.
